ROME, April 28 - Luis Moreno, Deportivo defender Pereire, must pay a fine of 26.78 million pesos (approximately € 10,175) for having caused the death of an owl, the opposing team's mascot, the Barranquilla, during a game of championship. It is learned from a resolution announced yesterday by the Department of the Environment of the club.
The agency has analyzed the dynamics of the sad incident, which occurred during a game Feb. 27. The resolution now requires the player to pay the expenses of the clinic, approximately 200 €, as well as making formal apologies to fans of Barranquilla. Moreno will eventually be required to perform community service at the Zoo.
The serious action has already cost the two-match ban and 400 euro fine. The player has ten days to appeal.
