Ten players were subjected Barcelona today, after the training session, a surprise doping test by a group of commissioners of the UEFA, the club said Barca. The players, selected by lot, were Leo Messi, Ibrahim Afellay, Xavi Hernández, David Villa, Jeffren Suárez, Gerard Piqué, José Manuel Pinto, Andrés Iniesta, Víctor Valdés and Javier Mascherano.
The controls are periodic and routine. In fact less than a month ago, on 23 February, a dozen players also had to spend another control by surprise. It so happens that the control occurs the same week that the club filed suit against a media that linked to Barca with possible doping practices to enhance the performance of his players.
Gerard Pique, one of the players of Barcelona which was subjected to a control in the last two races, has been ironic in a message posted on his Twitter page: "Today we have the UEFA doping control .. .. What a coincidence! Moc moc! ".
