The Dutch football association KNVB has punished the anti-Semitic hostility in the celebration of the fans of Ehrendivisionärs ADO The Hague after the victory over Ajax Amsterdam on Sunday hard. ADO midfielder Lex Immer, initiator of the hate chants ("We go hunting for Jews"), was banned for five games.
ADO coach John van den Brom and Charlton striker Vicento were each pulled a game out of circulation. Immediately after the announcement of the incident, the KNVB had Vicento from the Under-21s, the contest on Friday an international match against Germany eliminated. The ADO board Immer also finished to a fine of ten percent of his monthly income, the highest association punishment.
"The players have off the field as a role model," said board member Henk Jagersma ADO. "Immer, van den Brom and Vicento have with their behavior in professional football and sport in general hurt", said the KNVB. The ADO board condemned the hate songs. He took Immer apology though. The player said he had no wish to offend only group.
In the Dutch parliament called on the party of the right-wing populist Geert Wilders the government to take legal action against such excesses. Under Dutch law, a criminal prosecution of the trio is not possible.
