Wolfsburg Diego: "relegation battle is a new experience for me"

The change of the Brazilian Diego (formerly Bremen) from Juventus to VfL Wolfsburg last summer was one of the most spectacular Bundesliga transfers. The 26-year-old wanted to play with VfL at the European Cup places, Diego and his team now struggling against relegation. Daily Soccer Buzz: you regret the change? Diego: Yes.

The club wants to achieve long-term lot and has a very good perspective. But as with any project there is always a risk even in football. In recent months, nothing worked, now it is very difficult for us. For me, the relegation fight is a whole new experience. I want to use it to improve myself.

Daily Soccer Buzz: Why is it so bad? Diego: The philosophy of the club has changed, the coach has been changed, replaced player. The combination of our former coach Steve McClaren and the team has apparently not working. We all share together the responsibility for our predicament. The team is also not consistent enough.

We have shot many times two or three goals and still not won. Daily Soccer Buzz: What do you think of the new coach Felix Magath? Diego: I'm sure he can help us. Magath has an impressive resume and is a highly respected coach. For me personally, the coaching change is good. To be successful, you have to take risks.

We were not successful, so something was changed. Together, we must now do everything to get away from the relegation places. Daily Soccer Buzz: What gives you this hope? Diego: We have many goals in spite of the nine plays in a draw. This shows that we are difficult to defeat. We have given away many victories that will not happen to us more in the final stage of the season.

Our team has potential, it needs to exploit only.
