Alfredo di Stefano sticks distributed game against Real Madrid

Alfredo di Stefano, the living legend of Real Madrid, added his voice against the conservative style with which club was planted to take a 1-1 draw at arch-rivals Barcelona. In a strong criticism, the Honorary President of Real Madrid said the club "Merengue" played like a "mouse" to the "lion" that was Barcelona.

Di Stefano stated his views in a column in the sports daily Marca, expressing praise to play Barcelona and Real Madrid reproaches. "I like and I admire the mastery of the game that is Barcelona," said Di Stefano, 84. "His football does not look to the eyes but with the soul. They treat the ball with respect, adoration, almost mimándola.

Watching this team in action is a delight for all." Was harder to play their assessment raised by José Mourinho, the Portuguese coach of Real Madrid, saying that "cornered played against an opponent who dominated the midfield throughout the game." "It was a team with no personality," said Di Stefano.

"This game should provide guidelines for how to deal with next, because the approach of trying to play against Barcelona was clearly not the best." "Real Madrid was more heart that order, I stayed in and I can not," he added. Di Stefano is considered among the best footballers of all time, scoring a season with Real Madrid who won five European Cups in the early 50's.

Saturday's match at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid was the first in a series of four classics in a span of 18 days. Their next meeting will be Wednesday in the final of the Copa del Rey, to be played at the Estadio Mestalla. Di Stefano also overflowed with praise for Lionel Messi, his countryman and outstanding figure of Barcelona.

"Messi is the best in the world, the football is spectacular, it is an example of professionalism, has no rival. Shone with light itself on Saturday and Wednesday in the Cup Final will be wonderful to see him play live," said Di Stefano.
