In a meeting marked by strong emotional charge around the technical, which came to embrace his players after winning both the Novo the victory, Sporting returned to its effectiveness as a local show, which has allowed him to stay in the middle the second round of the League. Espanyol sporting and faced the meeting with very different objectives, but both important to their aspirations: the premises, make sure to stay in the First Division and the Catalans remain a chance of qualifying for European competition, which came across an entertaining first half with chances for both teams.

The first to approach the area where rival was Sporting had not even passed the first minute of play in a center topped José Angel Barral and made the ball was released over Kameni's goal. The visitors reply came quickly in a counterattack by Osvaldo who fell in the area, leading him to claim a penalty.

Barcelona dominated the whole game and their arrivals were the clear thanks to long balls to the back of the red and white for defense or Ivan Osvaldo Alonso and with band changes, but the home defense was always attentive and resolved in some, but sometimes with difficulty.

Within half an hour, Sporting won a combination of walls where Eguren was left only in the area of Kameni, but his shot was too much cross, missing the best opportunity so far by both teams. The following premises were shots from outside the area which Kameni resolved without any problem while Espanyol relented somewhat in his drive, but Lane and Ivan Alonso tried, the first from outside the area and the second highest but in both cases Juan Pablo was imposed.

At the stroke of half, Sporting had its best chance at an individual move from Diego Castro, who dribbled his par and almost from the baseline shot, surprising Kameni played the just, and Galan finished clearing the danger. The first 20 minutes of the second domain were visitors but not create a hazard, while Sporting were without ideas and more concerned to defend than attack and the result was that the game suffered from facing the viewer.

With the ball in the hands of Espanyol Sporting ran longer than necessary, but not intercepting the ball, which also benefited from the whole of Barcelona, so the game is developed most of the time in the midfield. However, Espanyol so ordered possession of a clear chance in a downtown Chicago that Osvaldo headed home, all alone, but John Paul was sufficient to reject reflections and Lora finished clearing a clear chance visitor.

Preciado decided to change ushering in a Nacho Novo Andrew Castro had eroded much as it was the first to defend the ball out from the Spanish defense. This change was critical because it was Novo on one of the first ball he touched the one that allowed his team ahead on the scoreboard. Atletico's goal came on a play of bad luck by the Espanyol defender Raul Rodriguez cleared as a center back with no apparent danger and the ball fell to Nacho Novo played enough to mislead Kameni.
