Real Sociedad Athletic Bilbao at San Mames ... Derbi cross-purposes

San Mames, after a hiatus of more than four years, will host a new Basque derby in which the Athletic depart in order to strengthen its European plaza in front of a Royal Society that it will pursue a stay, which in case of victory, could be almost final. The seats are sold out for several days ensuring that 'The Cathedral' live gala atmosphere in this derby that installed facing Atletico in fifth place after his agonizing victory at the Reyno de Navarra and a mattress three points on the eighth.

With three losses in his last four appearances at home to Valencia, Villarreal and Real Madrid, Athletic is aware of the urgent need to recover his usual strength in San Mames to hold off Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Espanyol, rivals with those who struggle for three European places. The aftermath of the crash on the final day in Pamplona Joaquin Caparros has left without four of their starters in that game-Castillo, Iturraspe, Iraizoz and Muniain-all sanctioned, although on the latter Athletic hopes that can still play in the If flourish late last appeal.

Who is sure to lose this meeting, the first of the season, is Iraizoz, causing the official debut of the youth squad in goal Raúl Fernández-Cavada. In addition, Javi Martinez, who did not play against Osasuna through suspension, will return to once instead of Iturraspe; Koikili will probably left-back in the office of Castillo, and Gabilondo, if finally Muniain is punished, will address the internal demarcation left-handed.

The Royal is one step to certify the first and will stay in San Mames a great opportunity to do so, but must be stopped, as in the first round, Fernando Llorente. The San Sebastian, after beating Sporting, ended a five-game losing streak and have caught some air, but the schedule is so demanding that all non-return rate in Bilbao them into trouble with games against Barcelona and Valencia in the skyline.

The team coach Martin Lasarte can be benefited from the low sensitive Athletic in San Sebastian but more concerned about services that are able to offer blue and white that rival the game itself. Alignment undoubted attack except where both Diego Ifrán as Raul Tamudo have their options, and also on the left side, eternal problem whenever Lasarte not have the beautiful, now injured, because it has no natural replacement that position and Mikel González and Estrada have options to occupy.

Antoine Griezmann in form after scoring both goals against Sporting, looms as the man to stop by the set of Bizkaia, with Xabi Prieto Aranburu and also claiming special attention because they always do well against arch-rivals. Probable lineups: Athletic: Raúl, Iraola, Ekiz, Amorebieta, Koikili, David Lopez, Orbaiz, Javi Martínez, Gabilondo; Toquero and Llorente.
