Stadium breakdown: Arminia Bielefeld makes first step to recovery

The front of the standing down and breathes with about 27 million euros of debt-loaded football second division side Arminia Bielefeld. At the extraordinary general assembly voted by a clear majority for the separation of the club's stadium into a separate company. Thus, the basis for a reduction of liabilities by about 20 percent was paid.

700 of the 728 members present voted for the spin-off, 13 were against and 15 abstained. Arminia-manager Ralf Schnitzmeier made it clear that the debt burden can now be reduced to around 21.5 million €. This is possible mainly through the conversion of private loans in stadium shares, equivalent to around four million euros.

"I am glad that this signal emanates from the consent of Arminia", said club president Wolfgang Brinkmann facilitated by the vote. For the club it was "an encouragement that we have done that." This is the future of the club "a little safer."
