Valencia-Villarreal ... The third place is at stake in Mestalla

Valencia and Villarreal star in this Sunday at the Mestalla a duel in which the regional third place in the league is at stake, as both teams seek to that position in a direct confrontation in which locals have an advantage of just three points . This will be the fourth game between the teams this season, and the balance is two draws and a win for Villarreal, which was especially painful for Valencia CF and that led to its elimination from the Copa del Rey, after leading the rest of that game in El Madrigal and end up losing 0-2 and 4-2.

The common denominator in these three preceding Valencia was the alignment by Unai Emery a defense consists of three central and two lanes, a change in his usual tactical scheme put into trouble by Villarreal during some phases of these parties. The big question is whether Emery will repeat with three plants or whether he'll play with 4-3-3, in which the midfielder to be embedded between plants, as tested last Wednesday with Maduro and Topal, and play with a single point.

For this meeting, the technician retrieves the suspended Valencia Joaquín Sánchez and doubt remains Guaita Vincent Porter, whose father died last week, although the player could return to Valencia goal at the expense of Cesar Sanchez, who played against Getafe. Villarreal reach the regional match with the idea of not losing sight of third place, because after being there most of the season have seen the Castellón Valencia again surpassed them missing a few days.

A defeat at the Mestalla would lose much of their options to achieve this goal, as it would be six points and without the benefit of goal average. Furthermore, no rate could bring to their rivals in the struggle to snatch fourth place in the standings. That is why this game is rated Villarreal key, both to maintain hopes of qualifying as third parties to secure fourth place a little more.

With all that the team led by Juan Carlos Garrido, comes into this game with a strange taste, and that despite the great result at the European League (a 5-1 win, against the Dutch Twentte), the Argentine defender injury Gonzalo Rodriguez, has meant a serious blow to the template. The Argentine striker underwent surgery on Friday with a fractured fibula and will be out four months of the pitch.

The low is a heavy setback in the sporting aspect, since the contribution of Gonzalo Rodriguez was key for a few weeks in his team's defensive gear, as this allowed Carlos Marchena occupy a place in midfield. Probable lineups: Valencia: Guaita, Bruno, Stankevicius, Ricardo Costa, Mathieu, Topal, Banega, Tino Costa, Mata, Joaquin and Pablo or Soldier.

Villarreal: Diego Lopez, Mario, Musacchio, Catalá, Capdevila, Bruno, Marchena, Cazorla, Valero, Nilmar and Rossi. Referee: Cesar Muniz Fernandez (Asturias Committee). Country: Mestalla. Time: 14:00 pm Central Time Mexico.
