Carles Puyol with Spain will not play against Colombia

The coach of the Spanish, Vicente del Bosque, defender Carles Puyol excluded the team will face Colombia on Wednesday in a friendly. Puyol was recently stopped by a knee injury. Jesus Navas return pointer for the first time since September after suffering several injuries. Juanma Mata and Javi Martinez stood outside to play with Spain's Under-21.

The technician did not major changes and kept his props Hernádez Xavi, Andres Iniesta, David Villa and the new Chelsea striker Fernando Torres. Since he won the World Cup in July, Spain has not won a single one of their three friendlies, which lost two and drew one with one goal in favor and eight against.

Del Bosque said the match against the South Americans will be a demanding test after falling 4-0 rout of Portugal in November. "We must ensure that what happened against Portugal was not repeated," the coach said Friday. "Everyone should come with the mentality to be played for 90 minutes." Spain also fell forcefully against Argentina 4-1.

However, the team won three qualifying matches for Euro and leads Group I. Their next qualifier is against the Czech Republic on 25 March. The match with Colombia will be played at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and the proceeds will go to the Spanish Football Association.
